My Qualifications
I am a Nutrition major at Southern Utah University with minors in both chemistry and sociology. I intend to further my education by pursuing a Masters degree in Public Health. I am a natural-born leader. I enjoy pursuing goals and contributing to society on the biggest level that I can. I have always been a part of public health efforts in my community: leading fundraisers, donations drives, organizing clean-up efforts and more! I am a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honor society and value service as something we can all improve ourselves by participating in!
My Purpose
I have always felt strongly that my bigger purpose as a person on this Earth was to help others. Public health is the perfect field to pursue this purpose. Public health is structured to promote and protect the health of its specific public. I want to work on these efforts from a policy stand point- designing the language and framework necessary to ensure public health institutions and workers can help people to the absolute best of their ability. I have already gained experience in policy change as I have worked on amending the smoking policy at Southern Utah University.
This EDGE Project, in which I interned with the Southwest Utah Public Health Department, significantly helped move closer to living a life of helping others. The rest of this digital portfolio will be dedicated to that specific experience in an attempt to encapsulate how invaluable that intern experience was to me in pursuing a career in public health and show how much I experienced and learned.
